Finally, something to look forward in Eastern Conference as last year finalists exchange some key players.
Reports are Cleveland Cavaliers traded Kyrie Irving To Boston Celtics for Point guard: Isaiah Thomas, Small forward: Jae Crowder, Center: Ante Zizic and 2018 unprotected first round pick.
Isaiah Thomas and Kyrie Irving both were key players for their team in 2016-17 season.
Kyrie scored an average of 25.2 points per game in 72 games he played last season and was a second best scorer in a team after Lebron. On the other hand, Isaiah Thomas was a top scorer in his team with an average of 28.9 points/per game in 76 games he played last season.
All this started early July when Kyrie Irving requested a trade from Cleveland and said he no longer wanted to play alongside the king– Lebron James.
After that, he was in a trade talk with many teams including Knicks, Spurs, Miami Heat and LA Clippers.
The trade between Cavs and Celtics comes as a shocker for fans as well as players of both teams. Danny Ainge, president of basketball operations for Celtics, said it was a very tough phone call to inform Thomas about the trade.
All in all, this trade heated up the rivalry between last year’s Eastern Conference winner and runner-up. With both teams adding some key players this offseason, Boston: Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving; Cavs: Derrick Rose, Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder, we can expect some fireworks on opening night when Celtics and Kyrie Irving visits Cleveland to play against his old pal Lebron and Cavs.
